CAMDEN, N.J. (Nov. 26, 2001) -- For the first time in recent history, Pomona Hall has been decorated throughout for Christmas with traditional, natural materials. Completed on Nov. 25 by the Camden County Historical Society's Mary Cooper Gardeners, the project has turned spaces such as the dining room (above, left) into Christmas-card tableaus. Included are minute details such as the faux holiday foods on the table (above, right).

In the living room, crystal glassware of the sort that would have been used by the Cooper family (above, left), has been touched with festive holly. Lit by candles, the tea table includes period pieces that would have been found at a holiday social gathering two centuries ago.

Windowsill treatments in the Georgian mansion range from simple greens-and-berries arrangements (above, left) to lanterns and aromatic pomanders rested in a bed of fresh rosemary (above, right).
Exterior spaces and doors feature elegantly simple arrangements including this fresh bittersweet wreath and a steel-rimmed wooden bucket overflowing with pine, holly, cypress and laurel.

Fresh cranberries were strung to provide authentic garland throughout the house; this nearly-finished one (above, left) was left on display near the children's area in the parlor, as it might have been in an earlier era. Nearby is a pinecone decorated with holly berries and boxwood leaves.
