Spinner Quill Pen
CAMDEN, N.J. -- Demonstrating spinning in Pomona Hall's parlor (above, left), Cheryl McClain offers a young visitor a hands-on experience with flax. In adjacent Boyer auditorium, it was antique writing with quill pens and ink (above, right). Educational director Charla Lewis explained the concept had become much more popular of late because book and movie character Harry Potter uses a quill pen in wizard school.

Cooks Hearth
In the kitchen, programming director Sandy Levins, left, assists hearth cook Hazel Werner, right, as she works up the ingredients of the day's demonstration menu. Everything is cooked over coals and open fire just as it would have been more than 200 years ago.

Regena Thomas Lenape Historian
Accompanied by Society executive director John Seitter, New Jersey Secretary of State Regena L. Thomas is greeted by a docent at the front steps of Pomona Hall (above, left). In the mansion's yard, historian and educator Maryellen Flynn is assisted by her grandson, Timothy Flynn Logue, with the final details of her Lenape gear. She is dressed as a 17th-century Lenape, while he is in typical 18th-century Indian garb. The two conducted a presentation of Lenape culture and crafts.

Finley Museum
Taking his own version of a swim through history was Finley, mascot of the local River Sharks baseball team (above, left) and hottest photo op of the day. The adjacent two-story Camden County museum was also open as part of Family Fun Day (above, right). Here, three youngsters cluster around a display of Civil War weapons and recruitment posters.
