COLLINGSWOOD, N.J. -- "Antiques on the Avenue," offering "Road Show"-like antique appraisals as well as an auction, turned out to be the Camden County Historical Society's most successful fundraiser in recent years. Sponsored by PSE&G, 1st Colonial Bank, Wegman's and AAA South Jersey, the event took place in the banquet hall (above, right) of the Collingswood Community Center (above, left) on Nov. 17.

A truckload of antiques -- many from the Society's own collections -- lined the walls and made interesting centerpieces, such as these 19th-century parasols (above, left) whose ivory handles were inlaid with sterling silver. The first hour and a half offered attendees the opportunity to study auction items up close and personal (above, right).
